Orange Studio (오렌지 합주실) - Hongdae Station (홍대입구역, line 2)

Last night I was walking around Hongdae (which is my new neighborhood, HOORAY!) in that area behind Hongdae Station exit 4, and I saw the sign for Orange Studio (오렌지 합주실). Two of the guys who work there had just locked up and happened to be coming out as I was staring at the sign, and as I started to ask them questions about the place, they kindly offered to open the door back up and show it to my friend and me. The place was nice; it was up there with Brown Sound. There 6 rooms, ranging from small to large, and they range from 10,000 to 16,000 won/hr. For any of you who need a keyboard to practice on, one of the rooms has a Kurzweil SP2X, which is a great 88 key, fully-weighted beauty with great sounds; it's the same one I play on.

You can choose from the S Room, of which there are 3, for 16,000 won/hr:

The A Room, which is 14,000 won/hr:

The B Room, which is 12,000 won/hr:

Or the C Room, which is 10,000 won/hr:

You can call them at 02-338-2320, 010-3764-2320, or find them on cyworld at http://club.cyworld.com/orange-studio

  1. Hi,

your blog on practise spaces for bands is very interesting. The German rock band PEACHBOX (www.myspace.com/peachboxband) is going to visit Korea in August 2009 and they will probably stay in Seoul a couple of days. Do you have any idea where they could perform (clubs, etc.)? They also would like to meet some Korean bands.

    Thanks,
    Moritz

  2. Hey, Moritz. You should definitely play in Hongdae, which is the live music mecca of Seoul. For your sound, you'd probably be best for DGBD (which people still refer to as "Club Drug" sometimes cuz that's the former name). You can check it out here: http://www.myspace.com/clubdgbd

Freebird (also in Hongdae) is also great for rock bands like yours: http://www.last.fm/venue/8903413. And if you have a friend who reads Korean, their actual webpage is: http://cafe.daum.net/freebird

Here is a comprehensive list of venues for you: http://www.koreagigguide.com/venues. Korea Gig Guide is the best site for underground and live music in Seoul, so check out the rest of the site, too!
